PAUL DU TOIT – The man behind the story

The Gem
At the entrance to the Hemel & Aarde valley in the beautiful town of Hermanus, inside the Hemel and Aarde Village, lies the Wine Village, the gem that is the result of a legendary journey that began with Harare expat Paul du Toit, and his wife Cathy, twenty-four years ago.

The Wine Village is truly a one-stop wine experience where you will find efficient, knowledgeable and friendly
service. Instead of having to visit the individual vineyards, one can simply find all the best in South African wines, gins and brandies under the roof of the Wine Village, where wine lovers and connoisseurs enjoy, appraise and sample their
selection of quality wines that suit any palate and pocket.  Here, award-winning wines, gins and brandies can be enjoyed
at the tasting counter for both individuals and groups.

The Treasure

With over 3,000 labels of South African wines from nearly 800 South African wine producers, the Wine Village has an astounding library of quality wines to select from.  “We stock co-operative, large corporations, small one-man boutique wineries and
garagistes”.  You will find only quality wines at the Wine Village as all wines must pass a staff panel tasting test.
Under no circumstance will wine be sold if they are not confident that their clients will be satisfied.” says Paul.
Wines are shipped to 22 countries all over the world. From a single bottle to container loads are delivered with complete peace of mind – fast, efficiently and fully insured.

The annual Wine & Food Festival, proudly presented by the Wine Village, is the highlight of the year with live entertainment, tastings, chill lounges, food trucks and the like; keeping adults and children engaged in the festivities.

The Man

On a personal level, Paul has a very strong and lively personality that continues to inspire. His zest for life can be seen in the smallest of details when he tends to his Bonsai trees and in his accolades outside of his career such as his unbeaten world
record in Life Saving and arduous Cape Epic cycle. He has also cooked for world presidents.

This dynamic but humble man is a demonstration of an energized life, not only in what he has achieved, but who he is as a person. Paul loves hiking in the bush, bird watching and has created an unbelievable forest-like garden to welcome birds and
wildlife into a welcome sanctuary.
