Saurwein Pinot Noir

Categories: , Tag:

Owner and Winemaker Jessica Saurwein produces just five barrels of her gorgeous Pinot Noir. Nom stands for nombulelo (“gratitude” in the Xhosa language) Situated at 700m altitude, near Villiersdorp, the Kaaimansgat Vineyard is a place where gratitude is instilled and tales appear. It was aged in 25-30% new oak and the rest in second-fill. There is 10% whole bunch here, slightly less than previous vintages. It has a clean, pure bouquet of morello cherry, raspberry and emerging hints of rose petal. The palate is well balanced with fine-grained tannin, nice edginess, sappy red berry fruit and a saline finish that lingers nicely.
